Several scientific studies have concluded that resveratrol and other antioxidants found in plants – known as polyphenols – can help prevent and treat certain types of cancer. Antioxidants help protect cells from being damaged by free radicals and potentially becoming cancerous.

When researchers applied resveratrol to the skin of mice and then exposed them to solar radiation (UVB), the mice developed significantly fewer skin tumors than normal. Even when the resveratrol was applied after solar exposure, tumor growth was diminished.
Resveratrol has also been proven to suppress the development of many other cancers, including those of the stomach, prostate, colon, ovary and cervix. Research conducted over the next few years is bound to yield some interesting results concerning the benefits of resveratrol for cancer prevention.
